Joni Newby, LCSW
Joni Newby is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a graduate of Temple University. She has worked in child welfare, nursing homes, hospice, and the medical field. Her areas of expertise and interests include grief and loss, life transitions, LGBTQ+, anxiety, depression, communication, caregiver fatigue, vicarious trauma, and relationships with oneself and the world around.
Joni utilizes narrative therapy, motivational interviewing, and DBT skills to encourage clients to share their experiences. She focuses on creating a safe space where children, adolescents, or adults can feel free to be vulnerable. Joni recognizes the courage it takes for a client to share his/her/its/their thoughts and feelings. She sees the therapists' role as a guide; offering validation, empowering the client, and gently challenging as needed. The client is the Captain and the therapist the lighthouse.
