Brian Newby, PHD, CAADC, LMSW
Brian graduated from University of Delaware with a PhD in Sociology in 2014. He worked as a Sociology professor at several DE and PA universities and colleges, educating students on a variety of topics from race/ethnicity, human sexuality (including multicultural and kink approaches), social problems, and technological change. He also functioned as an LBGTQ+ Safe Space trainer, sensitizing faculty and staff to the needs of students identifying as LBGTQ+. After working as an addiction counselor for over 2 years, Brian earned his advanced certification as a substance use counselor in 2020. Brian employs a variety of techniques when working with clients, including cognitive behavioral and dialectic therapeutic techniques, as well as motivational interviewing.
